Instagram is testing an option that will allow users to share stories with different audience lists, in addition to the 'close friends' list, in order to publish content to smaller groups and have more control over who can view the stories.
The social network owned by Meta already has a feature for creating a 'close friends' list, with which users can share their stories with a select group of users they have chosen, without the need to share them with all their followers.
Now, Instagram is testing the expansion of this feature to allow the creation of different lists, in addition to the 'close friends' list, and to share stories with specific groups of users. This way, users can have more control over the content shared on the social network and with whom it is shared.
This was announced by the head of this social network, Adam Mosseri, through a post on his Instagram news channel, in which he explained that they have started testing the possibility of sharing stories with "multiple audience lists."
In this regard, as Mosseri explains, users will be able to create lists with their family or travel friends, as well as with users who share common interests, such as cooking, for example.
To configure these groups, a 'Lists' menu has been introduced, where users can create a new list and gradually add the users who will be part of it. Furthermore, when sharing the story, a menu with all the lists, including the 'close friends' list, will appear, and users can choose where to publish it.
