LinkedIn is testing a format of short videos or 'shorts' similar to those characteristic of TikTok

Published on 2024-03-28

LinkedIn is testing a format of short videos or 'shorts' similar to those characteristic of TikTok, which will be displayed in the 'feed' and gathered in a new tab of the main interface.

Currently, the employment platform has four main sections: 'Home', 'My Network', 'Messaging', 'Jobs', and 'Notifications'. These are followed by the user account settings section.

The company is now testing a new section that groups together short-format videos, in the style of TikTok, as verified by the strategy director of the McKinney agency, Austin Null, on the mobile app.

Based on what has been shared, the job search platform will show the new 'feed' in the navigation bar with the new 'Video' tab. Once accessed, the app will display videos in a vertical format, which can be viewed by scrolling.

LinkedIn itself has also confirmed the introduction of this feature, which is currently in the testing phase, through TechCrunch, although it has not shared details on how it decides which videos to show in users' feeds.

Likewise, this medium has indicated that, according to LinkedIn, videos are becoming one of the preferred formats by users to learn from professionals and experts, which is why they have been promoted on the platform.
