Companies are increasingly dependent on having a good image on the Internet, so it is advisable that they take care of their digital image by ensuring their website is correct and useful to customers. However, one out of every two Spanish SMEs has at least one "serious" error on their website, which damages their reputation and results in the loss of business opportunities.
Currently, a fundamental part of companies resides on the Internet, as the online presence has become one of the most important showcases in the market. Indeed, eight out of ten internet users (77% of users) shop online in Spain, accounting for 26 million Spaniards. Additionally, 65 percent of customers purchase products via their smartphone.
In this regard, companies create websites where they publish their data, product or service sheets, and graphic content such as photographs, all with the aim of sharing an image of their work and capabilities with potential customers.
However, currently one out of every two Spanish SMEs has at least one error considered "serious" on their website, which deteriorates its digital image in front of customers and leads to the loss of business opportunities.
This is shown by the data collected by the technological solutions company for digitalization and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for SMEs and freelancers, BeeDIGITAL AI, which, after analyzing a database of more than two million Spanish SMEs, detailed that some of the errors are based on the website not responding or displaying messages like 'the website is not secure'. Other serious errors include the absence of a sitemap, pages that take long to load, broken links, or mistakes in the title and theme of the page.
As a result, as indicated by BeeDIGITAL AI, the aforementioned errors cause 70 percent of Spanish SMEs to not appear in the top search results on Google. They also cause 86 percent to continue displaying incorrect or imprecise information on the Internet, harming their image and, therefore, their profit.
Specifically, the company’s analysis details that 38 percent of Spanish websites have "little content". Also, 37 percent have errors in the titles and 27 percent do not have a sitemap, which does not facilitate a guide to help search engines consider their page when offering results. Other common indexing errors include the website being left "more than a year without updating" or with slow loading speed, that is, more than 5 seconds on mobile browsing.
With all this, Google considers various requirements for a website to be considered "usable", and it governs by them to rank some pages over others. In this framework, BeeDIGITAL AI has reminded that all the mentioned errors are serious because they penalize the positioning during searches.
OPTIMIZING SEO POSITIONING
Search engine optimization or SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is also a fundamental factor for positioning the company. In this respect, BeeDIGITAL AI has reminded that this feature is affected by errors such as poorly tagged images, an error identified in 47 percent of the analyzed SMEs.
Following this line, another SEO-related error is having less than two backlinks—links redirected from other websites—a factor that fails in 23 percent of cases.
"If consumers can't find you, you do not exist for the digital market," stated the commercial and marketing director of BeeDIGITAL AI, Carmen San Emeterio, while emphasizing that digital consumers "are increasingly demanding" and that, when a user searches for a company on platforms like Google, "they get an image of that brand composed of multiple elements which, if poorly presented, are detrimental when it comes to reinforcing their reputation or generating new business."
To offer a solution to these types of errors in Spanish SMEs and to promote their digitalization, BeeDIGITAL AI referred to its AI platform BeeAI which, among other functions, allows these errors to be eliminated and the website optimized.
Moreover, it is a platform that offers complementary services that, through smart technology, "help businesses to strengthen their positioning on the Internet and revolutionize interactions with new and potential customers," the company highlighted.
