40% of professionals used Artificial Intelligence (AI) to generate their resume in 2024, which represents an increase of three points compared to the previous year.
This emerges from a study recently conducted by the human resources solutions company Hays, which predicts that, in five years, up to 80% of resumes will be produced using AI, so it is not “a passing fad.”
Hays experts argue that submitting an AI-written resume is not necessarily negative. Recruiters are accustomed to receiving them daily and highlight several positive aspects.
The report states that “AI offers advantages such as content optimization, better structure, elimination of spelling errors, and emphasis on the keywords recruiters are looking for.” It also notes that it can reflect the candidate’s mastery of advanced technological tools. However, not everything is positive, as “excessive use of these tools can result in documents that are little personalized or contain mismatched information.”
To create a good resume with these tools, it is crucial to provide detailed information about experience, training, and education, as well as to highlight relevant keywords.
Nevertheless, this report emphasizes that it is important to consider that recruiters can already easily identify whether resumes are AI-generated or not. The most obvious signs include: the lack of synonyms, repetition of terms, and an overly polished style and structure. Therefore, it warns that the use of these technologies in resume preparation “is now, more than ever, under the spotlight.”
