Instagram has started working on a new feature focused on advertising, which introduces breaks of three to five seconds that cannot be skipped and have already been tested by some users of the platform.
This Meta service already introduces promotional content in the 'feed' of all accounts belonging to people over 18 years old. With this, advertisers can reach more people or increase their brand recognition.
The company is now working on a new feature called Ad Break, which introduces advertising on Instagram in a different way than currently done, that is, appearing before a video plays, as reported by Android Authority.
This is indicated at the bottom of it, where the duration of the advertisement, between three and five seconds, and an information button to learn how this feature works are shown. By pressing it, it informs that "advertising breaks are a new way to view ads on Instagram."
In this alert, the social network also informs users that "sometimes" they may see "an ad before continuing to browse," as some users have recently found and reported by the cited media, Android Authority.
These individuals have shared their experiences on Reddit and X (formerly Twitter), where they criticized its implementation, as it interrupts the browsing experience on the platform. For now, Meta has not officially announced the rollout of this functionality.
