TikTok allows users to indicate specific topic interests to the recommendation algorithm

TikTok users will be able to tell the algorithm which topics interest them to better tailor the content recommended in the 'For You' section.

The social network allows its users to further personalize the content they see in their feed with a new tool that lets them signal if they want to see more or less of certain topics.

This tool is found in the content preferences section and displays various topics (creative arts, current affairs, dance, fashion and beauty, food and drink, health and activity, and humor) with a slider, as reported by The Verge.

By default, the slider positions the indicator in the center, but users can move it to one side or the other based on their interest in these topics.

'For You' is the feed where TikTok offers content suggestions based on data collected from user activity. To further personalize these recommendations, users can indicate if they are not interested in a video, so that fewer of that type are shown.
