Apple, Samsung, Sony, Microsoft, LG, Huawei and Nokia are the big companies which are teaming up with the collaboration of Telefónica, Orange or Vodafone in the development of the eSIMS. Those virtual SIM Cards will work as a unique and universal SIM which will avoid us the annoying process of changing the SIM Card in our phones, each time we are ubscribing with another operator.
As we all know, the actual SIM is a tiny little piece rectangular that we have to insert in our devices (in order to make it operational), each time we change Mobile Network Operator. Nowadays, there are 3 versions of those in 3 different sizes: MiniSIM, MicroSIM et NanoSIM. Today, 25 years after their first apparitions, this system is mean to disappear… Allowing that more offers and competitors get into the game. And which says more competitors and more offers, says cheaper deal for us consumers!
Thanks to this virtual SIMs card, we will soon be able to have the same telephone number in many devices, without having to pay any extra fees, even though it’s still unknown how many devices we will be able to link to one number... Moreover, it will also allow us to bind together various numbers to one device.
Very soon, waiting to get our new SIM in order to change operator, will be a vague souvenir.
And at last but not the least, as it is virtual the time of removing our SIMs to reinserting our other SIMs to have access to our other numbers, will be once and for all over. Most definitely a good news for the most clumsy of us who have the bad habit of losing little things...
The next step? Will be that the actual Mobile terminals start to adapt and accept this new system that will surely soon spread over the world of Mobile Network Communication.
