More than 2,000 Telefónica volunteers will collaborate in a Christmas marked by a strong spirit of solidarity, focusing on inclusion and companionship for people in vulnerable situations, as well as carrying out specific proposals to help those affected by the DANA.
As a new feature this year, the auditorium of the Espacio Fundación Telefónica will host a Christmas Carol Festival this Saturday, where children, young people, the elderly, persons with disabilities, socially excluded groups, and volunteers “will share a very special moment singing, playing, and creating carols together,” stated Fundación Telefónica in a press release.
On the same stage, the Three Wise Men will make their traditional visit on December 19th, allowing children from International Cooperation to hand in their letters and enjoy one of the exhibitions.
Additionally, one of the classic events during this time is ‘A Smile for Christmas’. After nine successful years, this involves donating gifts so that around 1,200 children in vulnerable situations receive a gift purchased by Telefónica employees. Furthermore, Movistar stores across Spain will join this initiative. This year, some of the gifts will be allocated to children in the areas most affected by the DANA in Valencia.
Fundación Telefónica will gather on December 18th for a charity dinner, bringing together individuals and families in vulnerable situations along with Mensajeros de la Paz and Down Madrid. Additionally, this year’s Christmas gathering will focus on those affected by the DANA. The group’s employees will make this charitable action possible through donations of meal vouchers or financial contributions from group employees.
Meanwhile, a group of volunteers will prepare 1,000 Christmas food packs to be distributed to vulnerable families through the Madrid Food Bank. As a new feature, these Telefónica volunteers will join the ‘I Invite You to Dinner’ initiative on December 22nd, which will gather 1,000 vulnerable individuals and 500 volunteers from various organizations and foundations.
Another goal of the Christmas campaign is to support different groups through inclusive leisure initiatives, such as cultural outings, magic shows, or craft workshops. Finally, on December 20th, the traditional Solidarity Market will take place at Distrito Telefónica, where various social entities will sell charitable Christmas gifts.
Fundación Telefónica will once again participate in the ‘Innocent Innocent Gala’, where around 200 Telefónica volunteers will personally attend calls at the call center in Madrid and Seville during the event’s broadcast to raise funds for hospitalized children.
