The Video Game Museum receives over 12,000 visits in its first month

Published on 2025-01-03

The Video Game Museum of Madrid, located in Callao Square, has received a total of 12,000 visits during its first month of opening to explore its present, past, and future, as well as its proper use or nostalgia.

In statements to Europa Press, the CEO of OXO Video Game Museum, Javier Ramos, emphasized that they are "very happy" with the "warm reception" they have had since opening last December and noted that "there is still much work to be done."

"We want to highlight the museum's cultural agenda. This is a journey through the past, present, and future of video games, and here you will find a lot of nostalgia, love, respect, and the proper use of this tool," he explained.

Ramos stated that the museum seeks "the prism of the past so that visitors can understand what the present and future of video games are." "It is a museum where we discuss the dissemination of the sector and the cultural aspect of the industry," he highlighted.

This museum space features a permanent collection where visitors can enjoy early video games, such as PONG, up to today's virtual reality. It also includes original machines and explanatory plaques about milestones and key figures in the industry, such as Ralph Baer and Sir Clive Sinclair.

Additionally, it hosts a temporary exhibition, currently titled For Us, Gamers, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of PlayStation. Furthermore, it is a space where conferences and talks, educational workshops, and special events are held.
