Google has announced the launch of the AI Overviews feature in over a hundred countries and with support for more languages, including Spanish, aiming to bring this feature to over a billion users globally each month.
The tech company introduced AI Overviews in May of this year as an option to obtain quick answers in the Google search experience, featuring summaries powered by Gemini AI. This search feature was initially rolled out to users in the United States through Search Labs.
Now, Google has extended the smart responses of AI Overviews to over a hundred countries across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, and has expanded language support, including Spanish, regardless of where the feature is being used, to make search easier for more users globally.
In other words, users in the United States are no longer limited to using only their local language for questions and answers; they can now also receive results in Spanish.
As the company explained in a statement on its website, with AI Overviews in search results, users will be able to more easily find the information they need, as well as discover relevant websites on the web, regardless of the questions they have in mind.
These AI-summarized answers appear at the top of the page and respond to questions with concrete information. Additionally, they offer suggestions for organizing events, vacations, display food recipes, or serve as a tool to find new content.
With all this, through this expansion, Google has stated that it expects the AI Overviews feature to be used by over a billion users globally each month. However, it should be noted that although Spanish is included as a supported language for the feature, AI Overviews is not currently available to users in Spain.
Since its launch in the United States, users who have used search with AI Overviews claim that their search results "are more useful," according to data provided by Google. The company has also emphasized that with its latest updates, which introduced more prominent ways to display links to websites within AI Overviews, it has managed to generate "an increase in traffic to supporting websites."
